ABOUT ANNIE
Annie Tempest is an established multi disciplinary artist. You might know her best as the creator of the delightful cartoon strip "Tottering-by-Gently" in Country Life magazine, have a look at www.tottering.com for a closer look at all things Tottering. Annie is also a skilled sculptor, represented by the prestigious David Messum Fine Art in London. It is an absolute privilege to collaborate with Annie and bring her artistic vision to life in our unique handcrafted soap collection.
HISTORY
The universe (and social media!) was giving me a sign when I commented on Annie Tempest's Instagram post about soap making last year. As a huge admirer of her artwork, I took a chance and sent a comment. This connection has grown into a remarkable collaboration. Through our conversations, a shared passion for creativity and natural ingredients became evident. It wasn't long before we were creating custom oils blends and recipes to bring her artistic vision to life in the form of luxurious, handcrafted soaps.
PRODUCTION PROCESS
The Annie Tempest Collection soaps are more than just luxurious cleansers; they are artistic creations born from a unique collaboration. These soaps began their journey as a piece of Annie Tempest's art, transformed by her into a custom mould. I make these soaps using the traditional process of saponification. This method allows me to control every ingredient, ensuring the highest quality and the preservation of natural benefits.
Using only the finest natural ingredients, I combine lye with nourishing shea butter, coconut oil, olive oil, and castor oil. This carefully curated blend creates a soap renowned for its creamy texture, luxurious lather, and long-lasting richness. To further elevate the experience, I incorporate a custom blend of essential oils featuring patchouli, bergamot, and black pepper.
Each soap spends its first week curing in its custom mould, while the process of saponification completes. Following this initial stage, the soaps spend a minimum of four weeks on drying racks. This further curing period ensures more water evaporates resulting in a harder, longer-lasting bar that retains its luxurious qualities. The result?
